Sharon Millerchip is one of the busiest actors on the Australian stage with a swag of awards including three prestigious Helpmann Awards to her name.
Sharon is currently performing in THE APPLETON LADIES POTATO RACE, directed by Priscilla Jackman for the Ensemble Theatre and is soon to open in SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS for the Darlinghurst Theatre Company. She recently starred as SHIRLEY VALENTINE at the Ensemble Theatre after stepping away from the stage to embrace a new challenge as Resident Director and Resident Choreographer on the Disney blockbuster ALADDIN for it's Australian tour. Sharon was also Resident Director on Baz Luhrmann's extravagant production of STRICTLY BALLROOM and was involved throughout the workshop and development process of the production.
Sharon recently played the role of Passepartout in AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS and prior to that, starred in Johanna Murray-Smith’s BOMBSHELLS at the Ensemble Theatre where she played all six roles in this one-woman play earning her a Sydney Theatre Award nomination and the Glug Award for Leading Actress in a Play. Sharon appeared in MY FIRST TIME at the Sydney Opera House and as Miss Fisher in A PICASSO for the Ensemble Theatre.
Sharon played Meg Giry in the Australian premier of Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES, the spectacular sequel to PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Sharon was delighted to continue Meg's story having created the role of Meg in the original Australian production of the Phantom Of The Opera opposite Anthony Warlow and Marina Prior. The DVD/BlueRay recording of the Australian production of Love Never Dies has been released worldwide (Sydney Theatre Award nomination and Theatrepeople Online Best Supporting Actress Award)
Sharon is part of an elite group of women worldwide who have played the roles of both Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart in CHICAGO. Sharon received Helpmann Awards for both performances as well as the Sydney Theatre Award for Roxie Hart.
Her other leading roles include Belle in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Mo Award), Columbia in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Helpmann Award) Anita in WEST SIDE STORY, Demeter in CATS, Catherine in PIPPIN (Helpmann nomination), Sofia in SATANGO (Australian Dance Award and Glug Award), Sonia Walsk in THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG, Charity Hope Valentine in SWEET CHARITY (Helpmann Award nomination) Elaine, Bobbi and Jeanette in the smash comedy LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS and Nora Ephron's LOVE LOSS AND WHAT I WORE at the Sydney Opera House.
For the Sydney Theatre Company Sharon appeared as Cordelia in FALSETTOS and as Little Red Riding Hood in INTO THE WOODS for which she received the Mo Award and Sydney Theatre Critics Awards for best Supporting Actress.
Sharon comprised one third of the popular cabaret trio COMBO FIASCO who performed extensively throughout Australia and the USA where they received a MAC Award nomination for Best Vocal Comedy Act in New York City and performed live across America on the NBC today Show. Sharon was also part of an impressive lineup of women in the AUSTRALIA'S LEADING LADIES concert series.
Her television credits include Spicks and Specks, Cops LAC, Home and Away, The Circle, Willing and Able and many performances on The Midday Show, IMT and Carols by Candlelight .
Her feature film credits include Gretel Kileen's JIMMY AND GRET DON'T DO SEX and as Wendy Patterson in KATH AND KIMDERELLA.
In Feb 2019 Sharon is looking forward to her next performance in the new Australian play THE APPLETON LADIES POTATO RACE for the Ensemble Theatre.
